Note: This procedure can be interrupted at any time in an emergency by switching off the ignition or pressing the accelerator pedal.

Caution: Tailpipe outlet exhaust temperature will be greater than 300°C (572°F) during service regeneration.

  1. Park the vehicle outdoors and keep people, other vehicles and combustible material away during service regeneration.
  2. Do not leave vehicle unattended.
  3. Do not connect any shop exhaust hoses to the vehicle's tailpipe.

Caution: Keep the hood open and the vehicle in an open environment away from walls or buildings during this procedure. This is imperative to keep proper air flow across the radiator.

  1. Check coolant level and oil level before and after the procedure.
  2. Engine and exhaust system damage can occur due to improper use of the service regeneration.
  3. Do not initiate the service regeneration if faults are present on the vehicle, which are not related to particulate filter faults.
