Caution: Tailpipe outlet exhaust temperature will be greater than 300°C (572°F) during this procedure.

  1. Park the vehicle outdoors and keep people, other vehicles and combustible material away from it during the test.
  2. Do not leave vehicle unattended.
  3. Do not connect any shop exhaust hoses to the vehicle's tailpipe.

Due to the elevated engine temperatures created while performing this procedure it is imperative to open the hood and to keep the front of the vehicle in an open environment, away from any walls or buildings, in order to keep proper air flow across the radiator.

This procedure can be interrupted at any time in an emergency by switching off the ignition, depressing the brake pedal or with the scan tool.

  1. Check coolant level and oil level before and after the procedure.
  2. Engine and exhaust system damage can occur due to improper use of this procedure.
  3. Do not initiate this test if faults are present on the vehicle.
